This month’s Star is someone many of you may have spoken with over the course of the last few years.  As a Computer Support Specialist working on the Help Desk, he is often a reassuring voice and problem solver when team members encounter technology issues.  For his commitment to serving his fellow employees and optimistic attitude, we are proud to congratulate Cory Wishert on his selection as the October Star of the Month.

Cory joined the Austin Bank team in 2011 having previously worked in the automotive service and hospitality industries.  In his role at the Help Desk, Cory assists Bank employees with a wide variety of technology problems and issues.  He also serves as the main point of contact for the repair of teller printers and scanners . . . and when needed, disposal of that equipment.  “Cory always has a positive attitude and exudes an ‘I’m happy to help’ tone every time,” shares Karrie Stroud, Operations Officer, Whitehouse.  “When the CRA Department was moved, he was very helpful to all of us and we are thankful for his dedication to his job and to the employees of Austin Bank.”  Contributing positively to his work team each day and respecting the people he works with are two traits Cory demonstrates repeatedly.

A graduate of Texas State Technical College, Cory lives in Longview and enjoys many hobbies in his spare time.  A bit of a “foodie”, he enjoys fare from many different places including new culinary items, attending the ‘Taste of Longview’ and trying out different recipes at home.  However, out of all the foods he enjoys his favorite remains pizza.  Other interests include keeping up with current news events, playing online computer games and spending time with family playing cards and dominoes.

“Cory is the type of employee every manager wishes to have.  He is prompt, polite and never avoids work . . . usually volunteering for it.  His greatest strength is the combination of his technical knowledge and the fact he genuinely cares about his fellow employees.”

Jeff Sowell, VP/Network Support Manager, Longview Greggton

“Cory is one of those people who is just easy to talk to.  When users have an issue or concern, he can talk with them and not only help them with their problem, but leave them feeling good about the entire encounter.  He is always willing to help in any way he can.  I’m glad to have Cory on our team.”

John Orr, SVP/Chief Information Officer, Longview Greggton

“Cory is a great example of the spirit we strive for in our Technology department.  He is a team player and really enjoys helping our users.  He will often do an unsolicited follow-up call or email just to make sure the user’s problem was satisfactorily resolved.  Great job, Cory!”

Glenn Bass, SEVP/Deposit Operations, Longview Greggton

Our December Star is one who wants little recognition or praise, yet is deserving of both.  A seventeen year veteran, she began with First State Bank of Frankston as a Teller and Customer Service Representative in the Noonday office.  Since that time, she has filled many positions within the Bank.  Her vast knowledge of Bank processes makes her a trusted source of information for fellow employees.  Congratulations, Dee Dee Lang, VP/Assistant Internal Auditor in Frankston, on your selection as the December Star of the Month.

“A true ‘jack of all trades,’ Dee Dee approaches each task with a positive attitude that is contagious,” shares former supervisor, Karen Faulkner, VP/BSA and OFAC Officer.  With experience as a Teller, CSR and Loan Processor in addition to work in bookkeeping and new accounts, Dee Dee has served in supervisory roles as Customer Service Support Manager and Operations Officer.   She jumps in and does what it takes to get the job done, always working to find solutions.  Glenn Bass, SEVP/Operations Officer, praised for her work in fraud prevention.  “Dee Dee and her group worked primarily with our Bank’s fraud prevention tools and she excelled at taking the lead in that role, coordinating with Bookkeeping, Keith Fletcher and FiServ to balance the fraud tools and protect the Bank without being overly intrusive to our customers.”  Moving to the Assistant Internal Auditor position in August of this year, Dee Dee continues to put her years of Operations experience to good use as she leads the cash audit team.

She and her husband, Mitchell, live in Frankston on a farm complete with cats, dogs, rabbits, and cattle.  They have two children, Jake and Ashley, and a granddaughter, Kinnaleigh.  Dee Dee loves to garden, tackle projects around the house and spend time with her family.  She is a member of the Poynor Church of Christ.  Dee Dee is a graduate of Lakeview Centennial High School, the Bank Operations Institute through the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, as well as the Leadership Defined training program.

“Dee Dee is a team player.  She enjoys her job and the ability to pass on information, knowledge and training to fellow coworkers.”

Patty Morgan, VP/Auditor, Longview Greggton

“Dee Dee joined Risk Management in August of this year.  The transition into her position on the Internal Audit Team has gone exceptionally well.  We are eager to watch as Dee Dee utilizes her experience and knowledge to further enhance the strength of our audit program.”

This month’s Star of the Month is a Floater Teller who really stepped up and played a vital role in the Jacksonville market this past summer.  Already a customer favorite due to her desire to help, she has cemented her role as a co-worker favorite through her willingness to do whatever is necessary to insure operations run smoothly.  Please join us in congratulating Crystal Redd, Floater Teller for Cherokee County Region, on her selection as Star of the Month for March 2016.

Crystal joined the Austin Bank team in 2011 as a full-time teller in the Jacksonville Drive Thru, moving to the Floater position in 2014.  “Crystal’s smile and winning personality make her a favorite with our customers and employees throughout the region,” shares Lisa McCoy, SVP/Retail Market Manager, Cherokee Region.  “She is dedicated and committed to going above and beyond every day.”  This commitment to excellence was showcased when Crystal stepped in to fill a supervisory role in the Drive Thru.  Already scheduled to work there during that time, Crystal was called upon to oversee operations while the Teller Operations Supervisor was out on maternity leave and the department was short one Teller.  “Crystal effectively communicated with the ROM, Amy Pate, who was busy overseeing operations in the lobby due to my absence, and served as a positive mentor for employees in the drive thru,” states Jessica Guerrero, Teller Operations Supervisor, Jacksonville Main.  “She filled in wherever needed and worked Saturdays to insure coverage.  Crystal’s dedication has earned her the respect of her peers.”

“Crystal shows in her daily attitude that she is 100% committed to her customers and loves her job,” comments Amy Pate, Retail Office Manager, Jacksonville Main.  These sentiments were echoed throughout the multiple Star nominations Crystal received.  Her positivity and team mentality come through in all she does.  In addition to daily responsibilities, Crystal also makes it a point to participate after hours in community events on behalf of the Bank.

A resident of Jacksonville, Crystal graduated from Jacksonville High School and attended Jacksonville College.  She is a member of Sweet Union Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and enjoys spending time with her family at sporting events, traveling to Dallas or playing dominoes.  An interesting fact, she and Darrell Thompson, Retail Office Manager in Noonday, are cousins.  Darrell commented that Crystal has a giving spirit and the family is very proud of her selection as a Star.  But he shares a word of caution should you decide to take her on in dominoes . . . she has been known to “make ‘em nervous.”

“Crystal goes above and beyond her Floater Teller responsibilities.  She is responsible, punctual, self-sufficient, quick, accurate and fun – a great combination and a true representative of the Austin Bank core values.”

Minerva Trujillo, Teller Operations Supervisor, Jacksonville Drive Thru

“Crystal has an infectious smile that brightens everyone’s day and a sense of humor that keeps co-workers and customers laughing.  She is a Star that shines bright in the Jacksonville lobby and I know she must do the same at the offices she floats to.”

Chaela Whitley, Teller, Jacksonville Main

“Crystal is a very important part of the Jacksonville Main and Drive Thru team.  She is quick and efficient with customers’ transactions providing great customer service at the same time.”

Amy Pate, Retail Office Manager, Jacksonville Main

When you receive comments that echo each other it is safe to assume the person they are speaking of exhibits these qualities throughout each aspect of their life, not just in particular circumstances.  Such is the case for this month’s Star.  A “customer favorite” with a following from previous offices and “a true team player” are just a few of the repeated phrases mentioned when asked to describe Tara Hughes, Loan Assistant at Longview Loop.  For these reasons, we are proud to announce Tara as the April Star of the Month.

Tara is a “well-rounded, much liked employee.”  She began her banking career in 2003 as a Bookkeeping Clerk with City National Bank in Kilgore, acquired by Austin Bank in 2008.  And, she has also worked as a Customer Service Representative before moving to her current role as a Loan Assistant, having worked in the Longview Oak Forest office and later Longview Loop in this capacity.  Customers often come to her office seeking Tara’s assistance, insisting she is the only one who can help them.  Though this may add to her workload, Tara never tries to pass them on to another employee.  Many times Tara is the first to greet customers in the lobby, and is always eager to help with whatever need they may have, whether loan related or not.  With her experience in multiple areas of the Bank, Tara takes the initiative to help wherever a challenge arises.  She has even extended the reach of her banking knowledge by teaching Junior Achievement classes to second graders at Pine Tree Elementary.  “Tara’s positive attitude and quick learning ability set her apart from the rest,” shares Donna Bobo, VP/Relationship Manager at Longview Loop.  Striving to always better herself, Tara is currently enrolled in the Bank’s Community Lending School.

She and her husband, John, live in Longview with their daughter, Madison, age 12.  A graduate of Hallsville High School, Tara attended Brown Institute of Court Reporting and Kilgore College.  She is a life-long animal lover, currently sharing her home with four dogs and one cat.  But, she had numerous pets growing up, including a mountain lion at one point.  In addition to spending time with her family and pets, Tara is also a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sings in the choir.

“Everyone can be great, but Tara strives to be exceptional.  She pays attention to detail and is willing to assist all customers to find solutions.  She is the definition of a team player.”

Jason Petersen, EVP/Regional President, Longview Oak Forest

“Tara has such a positive attitude, sweet smile and goes above and beyond with customers and her coworkers.  She is enthusiastic about her job and willing to help in any area where needed.  The Longview Loop office is fortunate to have her as part of our team.”

Lynnette Martin, AVP/Retail Office Manager, Longview Loop

“Tara is very dedicated and takes pride in her work.  She is one of the best people I have worked with – not only my assistant, but also a good friend.”

Donna Bobo, VP/Relationship Manager, Longview Loop

There are often employees in an organization who go without notice - not because of poor qualities, but often because they keep their head down and take care of their responsibilities without pretense.  This month’s Star fits that description . . . working hard and continually learning new things.  Please join in congratulating Dalia Ramirez, Loan Assistant at Tyler Med Center, on her selection as the June Star of the Month.

Dalia joined the Austin Bank team in 2010 as a Teller at Tyler Med Center before moving to work as a Customer Service Representative there in 2013.  Continuously seeking new opportunities and expanding her work skills, she moved to work as a Loan Document Specialist in CLD in 2014.  Her training and experience in this department helped prepare her for her newest position as a Loan Assistant back at the bustling Med Center location.  “Dalia is a vital part of our team at Med Center and an asset to Austin Bank.  She has exceptional customer service skills and a personality that makes people smile and trust her.  She makes my life easier,” shares Elena Gomez, VP/Relationship Manger, Tyler Med Center.  Taking great pride in her work, Dalia consistently seeks to help others.  Her fellow employees describe her as having a great, positive attitude despite the circumstances around her and someone they can count on for help in a time of need. Customers appreciate Dalia’s calmness and gentle demeanor as many specifically ask for her when they come in the Bank.  “Dalia makes customers feel welcomed every day.  Her personality earns their trust and her knowledge allows her to assist them in many ways.  She is an example of providing exceptional service,” comments Melany Perez, Loan Assistant, Tyler Cumberland Park.

A 2009 graduate of Chapel Hill High School, Dalia was in the top 10% of her class and attended Tyler Junior College.  She now lives in Tyler with her pet Chihuahua, Leila.  Dalia has a large family – three brothers and two sisters – and enjoys traveling to Florida, specifically Destin.

“After working with Dalia for several years at Med Center, I consider her not only a co-worker but a friend.  She goes above and beyond to help those who need it – always with a smile on her face and a positive attitude.”

Wayne Golden, Portfolio Manager, Tyler Downtown

In such a technology dependent industry, we often take for granted the fact that we can turn on our computers and begin our work day.  Ever stop to think about what is required behind the scenes for this to happen?  Our information technology department spends lots of time and resources to make our jobs feasible.  This month we would like to bring the spotlight to an area that often goes unnoticed until there is a problem, and to an employee who works diligently to insure we all have the equipment and systems necessary to perform our tasks.  Please join in congratulating Heidi Gamble, Systems Administrator II, Longview Greggton, on her selection as the July Star of the Month.

Heidi joined the Austin Bank team a little over four years ago after working in the technology departments of Overton and Marshall ISDs and as a Master Control Operator for KLTV.  Hired as a Computer Support Specialist in 2011, she was promoted to a Systems Administrator II in 2015 and is now responsible for maintaining the Bank’s database environment, virtual PCs, and several other systems.  Her strong work ethic, integrity and dependability make her a valuable asset to both the Bank and the IT department.

Following the Bank’s recent intranet redesign, Heidi went a step further to assist the Human Resources department in the creation of their new site. Lynn Littlejohn, EVP/Human Resources Team, Jacksonville, shares “Heidi has a calm demeanor and never made us feel as though we were asking ‘dumb’ questions.  She conducted training in person and by phone, typed up notes, and tweaked our site to make it even better.”  Lynn continues, “She went above and beyond to assist and help our team achieve success.  Heidi is dedicated and committed to doing a great job and possess a positive attitude in all that she does.”

Heidi and her husband, Don, live in Kilgore with their three dogs – Optimus, George and Peanut.  In addition to spending time with her pets, she enjoys photography and remodeling projects.   A graduate of Benton High School in Louisiana, Heidi holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northern State University in addition to numerous professional certificates for various technology platforms.

Star of the Month - August 2016 - Janie Bird

Who wouldn’t want an employee in their office described as “always ‘wowing’ the customers with their above and beyond customer service standards”?  Or, one known for going outside the realm of normal teamwork to assist a teammate in a time of need?  This month’s Star is the recipient of these accolades and many more.  For that reason, we are pleased to announce Janie Bird, AVP/Loan Assistant in Frankston, has been selected as our August Star of the Month.

Janie spent six years during the seventies in First National Bank of Bullard’s Frankston office working as a Teller, then as secretary to the President.  She rejoined the FNB team in 1996 as an Assistant Vice President.  When the bank was purchased by Austin Bank in 2004, Janie stayed through the transition working as a Customer Service Representative before making the move to Loan Assistant.  “Janie has a special talent of immediately putting customers at ease with their banking needs, problems or concerns.  Her favor among the customers can easily be seen in the number of customers and referred customers that seek her out upon entering the Bank,” shares Russ Gideon, SEVP/Chief Lending Officer, Jacksonville.  Misty Evans, VP/Retail Market Manager, Frankston adds, “Janie always has a positive attitude and takes pride in everything she does.  She is respected by both customers and coworkers because of her willingness to go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service.”

A long-time resident of Frankston, Janie graduated as Salutatorian from Frankston High School.  Attending Trinity Valley Community College and Tyler Junior College, she also holds various professional certificates.  A member of First Baptist Church in Frankston, Janie enjoys participating in a number of community organizations.  She has lent her time and skills to the Frankston City Cemetery and the Frankston Depot Library Board.  Janie and her husband, Mike, have two sons and daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.  Her number one hobby is taking care of those grandchildren – Grant, Grace and Jake.

“Janie always goes above the call of duty in helping Mom (Jane Chapman) with her business affairs.  I thought it might be because of who Mom is, but I have learned by talking to her coworkers that she does the same for all Austin Bank customers!  Janie is loved by our customers and represents us well in the community.  She is truly an asset to Austin Bank.”

Michael A. Neill, Director

“Janie is very professional and customer oriented.  She is a pleasure to work with and represents Austin Bank well.  She is very deserving of this award.”

Marty Lindsey, SVP/Commercial Lender, Frankston

“Janie’s friendly smile and positive attitude make her a pleasure to deal with, for both customers and coworkers alike.”

Filling Out The Paperwork For Your First Job

$
0
0

After the interview, salary negotiation, and getting hired, you will probably go to the Human Resource Department or see the Business Manager to handle some of the financial details of your job.  Here are some of the items you probably will face:

Income Tax Withholding– Unless you are hired as an independent contractor, every paycheck will have federal (and state) income tax withheld.  By having tax withheld, you will not have to pay everything all at once when you file your tax return.  To determine the amount your employer will withhold, you will probably have to complete the IRS Form W – 4.  On this form, you will be asked how many exemptions you want to claim.  The larger the number of exemptions, the smaller amount that will be withheld.  Unless there is something special about your income tax situation, you will probably just want to claim one exemption (yourself).  Your state may also have a similar form.

Social Security and Medicare Withholding– Your wages are subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes that will be withheld from each paycheck.  For 2015, you will pay Social Security tax of 6.2% on your wages up to $118,500 and a Medicare tax of 1.45% on all your wages.  Single taxpayers with wages above $200,000 and married taxpayers with wages above $250,000 are also subject to an additional 0.9% Medicare surtax.  Your employer pays 6.2% in Social Security tax and an equal amount to your regular Medicare tax.  If you are an independent contractor or self employed, you are responsible for both amounts.

Direct Deposit– It is a good idea to enroll for this convenience.  Instead of getting your paycheck, you can have your funds go directly into your bank account.  This saves the time of going to your financial institution, waiting in line and making the deposit.  It is also safer and gets your money working for you even faster.

Retirement Plan– If your employer has a retirement plan like a 401(k) plan, be sure to enroll and participate.  That way, you will be setting aside some savings from each paycheck.  You will probably have the ability to decide how much you want to contribute and how you want your funds invested.  Contribute as much as you can and still be comfortable.  Your plan may also have a provision where the employer matches some or all of your contribution.  Be sure to understand the details and try to get the entire match.  Ask about your investment options and try to diversify into a few investment options.

Other Employee Benefits– Many employers also offer health insurance, life insurance and disability insurance.  These policies are usually much cheaper that what you could get by buying them as an individual.  Health insurance is almost always a must, and the others may be attractive if you need them.

Summary

Plan to spend some time evaluating your options and completing the paper work.  Ask questions about anything you do not understand, and if your situation changes, go back and ask more questions.  These things take some time and they will reduce what you have to spend.  But, they are very important.

This month’s Star has been a member of the Austin Bank team for more than 15 years.  She joined a department that serves the needs of our lending staff here at the Bank and goes mostly unnoticed by others.  Please join us in congratulating Kim Raney, SVP/Senior Credit Analyst, Longview Greggton, as our September Star of the Month.

Hired in 2001 as a Credit Analyst, Kim has spent her time since learning every nuance of the job.  Her eight years’ prior banking experience in underwriting provided a strong foundation on which to build. Taking over leadership of the department in 2004, she continues to play an integral role in maintaining the high quality loan environment the Bank is known for.  “Kim and her department are an integral part of the lending team as they greatly assist the Bank in obtaining new relationships, managing existing relationships and assessing the Bank’s loan portfolio for risk,” commented Russ Gideon, SEVP/Chief Lending Officer, Jacksonville.

“I have never had a more family oriented, considerate supervisor,” shares Brandi Morton, Credit Analyst, Longview Greggton.  “She helps each of us in the Analyst department feel like we are part of a team.”   Billy Mullins, SEVP/Risk Management in Longview Greggton, adds, “Kim is an excellent mentor to the new analysts selected for this department.”   For those who do not know, the Credit Analysts determine the quality of prospective loans; review credit files and information from loan officers; in addition to preparing profitability models and packages for Loan Committee members.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Kim is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School in Louisiana where she was a rifle and flag twirler, and the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville with a degree in Business Administration.  She has completed numerous professional trainings throughout the years, including the Austin Bank STAR program in 2013 and the Bank’s Leadership Defined program in 2007.

She and her daughter, Emma, live in White Oak with their three dogs Jack, Cookie and Molly.  Kim loves Disney World, Florida beaches and rescue dogs.  (Two of her three dogs were rescued.)  A member of First United Methodist Church in Longview, Kim serves as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher and enjoys volunteering with other community groups including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

“Kim continues to successfully lead the Credit Analyst department in their quest to compile pertinent, detailed and accurate information for the lenders and loan committees.  Analyzing and organizing loan packages is a tough job; however, Austin Bank’s superior loan quality over the years is in part due to Kim’s hard work, dedication and departmental leadership. “

Rick Waldrop, SEVP/Chief Credit Officer, Whitehouse

“Having worked with many different credit departments as both an examiner and a consultant, Kim Raney operates the best program I have ever seen.  Not only is she one of the best leaders in the Bank, it is with pride that I include Kim on a short list of my very best friends.”

Billy Mullins, SEVP/Risk Management, Lonvgiew Greggton

“Kim’s leadership of the Credit Analyst department is excellent.  She has a tremendous desire to help others within the Bank meet expectations, whether customer service related or internally.  Her commitment to Austin Bank and her fellow coworkers is second to none!”

Russ Gideon, SEVP/Chief Lending Officer, Jacksonville

Though J has been with the Bank just a brief time, he has demonstrated many highly sought after qualities including a strong work ethic, dependability, working well with others, and flexibility.  While his job title implies the delivering of mail, his role in the operation and efficiency of the Jacksonville office is much larger.  He helps run Teller work on Fridays; aids Customer Service Representatives when able; ensures supplies are stocked and available to multiple departments and myriad additional jobs as they arise.  “J gets the job done in a timely manner with little to no supervision,” shares Amy Pate, AVP/Retail Office Manager, Jacksonville.  “He is very reliable and we enjoy having him here.”  Recently, during a Bank visit by a local school group, J stayed past his normal work hours to assist with the coin machine.  It got heavy use that day counting over 100,000 pennies and required emptying multiple times.  His patience with the children and adults that day helped the entire process remain as calm as possible.  J was definitely a hero to the balance of the Bank staff there that day.

A graduate of Tyler Junior College, J is currently studying Education at the University of Texas at Tyler with a goal to become a teacher.  He takes great pride in setting an example for his younger siblings, and enjoys spending time with his family and their two pet ducks – Quackers and Aflac.  In his spare time, J coaches soccer, mentors his younger brothers, plays video games and loves collecting anything related to Pokemon.  He is a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville.

“J lives out Jeff Austin, Sr.’s adage – ‘Let a smile be your umbrella.’  He always has a smile to share, and is extremely polite.”

Jeff Austin III, Vice Chairman of the Board, Jacksonville

“J is absolutely the friendliest, sweetest young man I have met in a while.  He provides the best customer service and all the employees and customers in Jacksonville love him.”

Lynn Littlejohn, EVP/Human Resources, Jacksonville

“J is willing to help in any area he can.  He is a pleasure to work with and is very deserving of this award.”

Amy Pate, AVP/Retail Office Manager, Jacksonville

Our Star this month possesses a quiet and unassuming nature.  However, the level of leadership, dedication and customer service she displays on a daily basis has earned the respect of all of those around her.  Please congratulate Minerva Trujillo on her selection as our September Star of the Month.

Minerva joined Austin Bank in 2011 as a Teller.  Possessing previous management experience, she quickly moved into the role of Teller Operations Supervisor, first in the Jacksonville Drive Thru and now in the busy lobby downtown.  Her professionalism and commitment to increasing her knowledge has been evidenced through learning the new cash handling machines and assisting in the development of procedures used to train others how to use them.  “Minerva is my right hand now that she has joined the lobby staff,” shares Amy Pate, Retail Office Manager, Jacksonville.  “She is very detail oriented and will not stop until she finds a solution to a problem.”

With a strong commitment to the Austin Bank service non-negotiables, Minerva coaches her Teller staff on them continuously.  It is her goal to make every interaction with a customer the best that it can be.  Her dedication to customer service is demonstrated in her response to difficult questions.  “Will my response impact the customer in a negative manner?” is the question asked not only of herself, but also the advice she share with Tellers.  Minerva wants success for all of her team, and works diligently towards that goal.  Staying late, coming in early, assisting in the drive thru and stepping in to fill a need or assist a coworker is nothing out of the norm for her.  While recently working at the Jacksonville Drive Thru, Keith Fletcher, SVP/Securities and Facilities Manager, observed, “Minerva continues to shine and her dedication to the Main office and Drive Thru is outstanding.  She takes it upon herself to help when others need it.”

A graduate of Jacksonville High School, Minerva has completed Austin Bank Teller School, the Austin Bank Leadership Program and Jacksonville Chamber Leadership Institute.  She and her husband, Jose, have three children – Alicia, Mauricio, and Avery – and are currently anticipating the arrival of their fourth child.  Minerva is a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and is active in her community, volunteering with H.O.P.E. and various school organizations.

“Minerva is a very hard worker and a strong team leader.  She leads by example and strives to maintain an atmosphere that is customer focused.  Minerva is very deserving of the ‘Star’ title and I am proud to have her on my team.”

Misty Evans, SVP/Retail Market Manager, Cherokee Region

“Minerva continues to demonstrate professionalism and dedication in everything she does.  She is an exceptional employee and though quiet, she is strong and accomplished.”

Lisa McCoy, SVP/eBanking Manager, Jacksonville

“Minerva is always willing to step up and help out whenever she is needed or asked.  Making the customer’s experience the best it can be is one of her main focuses.”

Mark Twain said, “It’s never wrong to do the right thing.”  This statement encompasses all this month’s Star is known for.  His coworkers and community members cannot say enough good things regarding his service to others.   His self-sacrifice, dedication and positive attitude are an encouragement to all who encounter him.  Congratulations to Bobby Sisco, VP/Relationship Manager in Bullard, on being our Star of the Month for October.

“It’s the small things when it comes to Bobby,” comments Laura Stremmel, Teller Operations Supervisor in Bullard.  “When he can, he will open the door for ladies and the elderly.  He always has a sincere, polite and helpful attitude about him.”  Never one to seek recognition, Bobby does many things to help others whether they are Bank customers or community members.  Recently when walking back to his office from the printer, Bobby witnessed an elderly man using a walker stumble and fall.  The gentleman was across the way from the Bank, but Bobby left quickly to assist in any way he could.  Patiently assisting the gentleman up, he then sat with him until family members arrived.  He has also been known to provide car repair assistance to customers in the drive through or change flat tires for fellow employees.

Bobby came to work for First National Bank of Bullard in 1991.  Taking a short break to work as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Bobby returned to the bank in 2002 and remained through the transition to Austin Bank in 2004.  During his tenure he has held many roles – in bookkeeping, as a Teller, in New Accounts, and loan officer.  The experience gained in each of these positions make it possible for him to be a true team player in the Bullard office.  Luan Smith, Loan Assistant in Bullard, shares, “Austin Bank is better because Bobby is here.  He goes above and beyond his loan officer duties to help in all areas in order to give our customers the best service and attention they deserve.”  She describes his current job duties as “loan officer, plumber, handyman, greeter, Teller, all and anything he is asked to do.”  But, do not let the sweet smile fool you - coworkers share that Bobby is always “up to something”.  He is the life of the party in the Bullard office, and makes coming to work fun.

Bobby and his wife, April, live in Bullard with their four children – John, Lila, Alice and Walker.  A graduate of Bullard High School and Tyler Junior College, he is a member of the Bullard Kiwanis Club.   Time spent with his family is his favorite out of office activity, however when he is not busy doing that, Bobby also enjoys restoring old cars and hunting.

“Bobby exudes daily what Austin Bank stands for.  He truly cares for his family, coworkers and community.  We are lucky to have him as a part of our family.”

Laura Stremmel, Teller Operations Supervisor, Bullard

“Bobby is a team player willing to take on any role in the Bank.  Customer service is very important to him – often going above and beyond to insure we are providing the excellent service the Bank is known for.  I am proud to have Bobby as part of our Bullard family.”

Faye Dotson, VP/Retail Office Manager, Bullard

“Bobby is a great asset for the Smith County market.  His great personality accompanied by the care and concern he shows each person he comes in contact with make him a favorite of customers and coworkers alike.”

Jeff King, SVP/Regional President, Tyler Cumberland Park
